What is ASTM International database :
- It’s a globally recognized leader in the development and
delivery of international standards that contains a vast
collection of standards and technical engineering
information which covers a broad range of engineering
disciplines including aerospace, biomedical, chemical,
civil, environmental, geological, health and safety,
industrial, materials science, mechanical, petroleum, soil
science, and solar engineering.
History of the Database
- ASTM, started in 1898 by chemists and engineers from
Pennsylvania U.S. before other standards organizations
such as BSI (1901), DIN (1917), ANSI (1918) and
AFNOR (1926).
- Formerly known as the American Society for Testing and
Materials (ASTM).
- In 2001,the Society became known as ASTM
International.
