Where to find help
Check grades together with your child until they develop the habit
and do it independently
Teachers are the best resource to help you understand what is
happening in the classroom. Grades, habits, classroom behavior
Communicate with teachers via email and voicemail.
Communicate with alpha Assistant Principals for matters pertaining
to discipline, attendance, or concerns with teachers
Communicate with Celia Newhart regarding 504 (512-414-2829)
Check teachers websites. Many have helpful resources. All have
tutorials before or after school

Dual Credit vs. AP Courses
Dual credit classes are taught by ACC professors either at
Bowie or at an ACC campus. Upon successful completion of the
class, students earn both college and high school credit. Grade
of A or B, students earn an advanced measure
AP classes are taught by trained teachers at Bowie using College
Board curriculum. Upon completion of the class AND a grade of
3+ on the AP test in May, students earn an advanced measure
and potentially college credit (some colleges only accept 4’s and
5’s)
Both dual credit and AP classes are graded on a 5.0 scale
Check with out of state schools for dual credit transfer
